ZONE
A journey to self-recovery and healing
Zone is an introspective architectural project that intertwines the stories of Timothée and Andreï.
Timothée, a designer, seeks a purposeful project for his graduation and chooses the war-torn area of Azovstal in Mariupol, Ukraine. Struggling to understand the site because of its current state and its political situation, he creates a fictional character named Andreï, whose experiences help Timothée empathize with the horrors of living in darkness and danger. Through this process, Timothée discovers a new approach to architecture, going beyond the finished product. Meanwhile, Andreï, a defender of Mariupol, is mysteriously drawn back to
Azovstal. He uses materials from the underground bunkers to create spaces that alleviate his trauma and dark memories, assisted by three personalities he developed. The project explores the power of architecture to address trauma and create meaningful experiences for individuals like Andreï.
